About Paris

Paris is perhaps the most romantic city in the world. The capital of France, also known as the City of Lights, looks vibrant at night especially when the Eiffel Tower is lit. The city has always been popular among honeymooners and couples. However, visiting Paris with your family can also be a memorable experience.

Family Activities

When visiting Paris with family especially with small kids, it would be best to travel by bus or taxi. Children cannot stand walking for long distances and it would be difficult for you to carry them while strolling. Even if you are with children, do not miss visiting the Louvre. Introduce to kids the masterpieces of great artists. In the Sully Wing lie the Egyptian mummies, which could be of interest to kids.

Your day tour should have a mix of fun such as a visit to the oldest toy store, the Au Nain Bleu. Make sure to stop by a café so children can enjoy pastries, hot chocolate, hot bread and jam. Another attraction is the Mere de Famille, an old-fashioned candy store that sells more than a thousand different types of candies.

Another kid-friendly sightseeing activity would be to cruise down the river Seine aboard a Bateau Mouche, an open excursion boat that lets you view the beautiful Paris from the river. Other kid-friendly attractions include the Centre Pompidou. It houses the National Museum of Modern Art, which in turn, has a special section known as the Galerie des Enfants.

Tour Ideas for Kids

When planning for a tour, try basing it on a movie or book where your kids can relate. Some of books and movies with setting in Paris include Madeleine, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Ratatouille and Rugrats in Paris. Children will be more interested they find the landmarks familiar.

Activities for Children

There are many activities for children in Paris. Funfairs and various theme parks are open all year long. Some of the most notable ones are Disneyland Paris, France Miniature, Parc Asterix and the Mer de Sable. In the Jardin du Luxembourg, children can sail tiny wooden boats in the pond. There are merry go round, sandpits and a puppet show inside the park. There are other local parks as well such as the Jardin d’Acclimation, Tuileries Gardens and the Jardin des Plantes.

Kids may also love to ride the hot air balloon. A Eutelsat tethered balloon can be found in the Andre Citroen Park and another can be found inside the Disney Village. There are also white carriages called Petit Train de Montmartre that goes around the streets of Butte where kids can ride aboard and explore shops, houses and other historical attractions.

There are also sightseeing tours available such as those offered by Les Cars Rouges and Open Tour. Sightseeing tours via shuttle boats are also available wherein guests can get off any of the eight stops. Among the attractions that can be explored are the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre and Invalides.

Visitors aged 18 and below can enter museums and monuments for free. This includes the Louvre, Musee d’Orsay, Musee du Moyen Age and Chateau de Fontainebleau.
