Freedom Trail
Being one of the oldest cities in the country, Boston was the home to many culturally significant events and sites in the build up to the American Revolution. The Freedom Trail, a 2.5-mile long brick path, passes by 16 different locations significant to the American Revolution and the history of America, in general. The Freedom Trail goes to prominent sites such as Boston Common, a large public park in the center of Boston, the site of the Boston Massacre, an event that laid the foundation for the American Revolution, the Bunker Hill Monument, which lies at the site of the Battle of Bunker Hill, and 13 other important sites.Fenway Park
Beyond the vast amount of cultural significance tucked away in Boston, Boston is also home to some of the greatest sports teams in American history. Specifically, Boston is home to the oldest ballpark in baseball, Fenway Park. Fenway Park opened in 1912 and it has many interesting quirks in its midst. This includes the famed Green Monster, a nearly 38 foot high wall which makes it difficult to hit balls outside of the park for hitters, and the lone red seat, a marker for the longest home run ever hit in Fenway Park (hit by Ted Williams).Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
For a more modern cultural site in the city, the Museum of Fine Arts nearly 500,000 thousand works of art ranging from ancient to modern art. Some of the more p opular exhibits in the museum include Paul Gauguin, Edouard Manet, and John Singleton Copley (Copley is also the namesake of Boston’s Copley Square).Newbury Street
While Boston offers much in the way of cultural enlightenment, Boston also has an incredible shopping section, starting with its prized Newbury Street. Beginning with the opening of Newbury Comics (a media store) in 1970, Newbury Street transformed into a shopping district, which now contains amazing shops such as Alex and Ani, Dr. Martens, and life is good. Boston is one of the greatest cities in the world, with cultural and historical significance, and it holds some of the greatest modern attractions any person could ever want to visit!
