About Seoul

Seoul has been slowly gaining in popularity due to its cultural influence all over the world. Many young adults adore the K-pop culture and fashion, Korean food and celebrities. There are many travel themes one can choose from when visiting Seoul. Visitors can explore traditional and historical attractions, family-friendly attractions, romantic, cultural, modern and technological points of interests in Seoul.

Traditional and Historical Attractions

Seoul’s historical structures are well-preserved. No matter how modern South Korea has become, they still give importance to their culture and tradition. One of the most popular historical attractions is the Gyeongbokgung Palace, also known as the Palace of Shining Happiness. Gyeongbokgung is located in the northern part of the compound while Gyeongheegung Palace is at the west and Changdeokgung at the east. Visitors can drop by the nearby National Palace Museum of Korea and the National Folk Museum as well. The Bukchon Hanok Village is a traditional residential area situated between the east and the west palaces. The traditional wooden houses are well-preserved in their original layout.

Modern Attractions

Namsan (aka N Seoul) Tower is popularly featured in various movies and Korean dramas. The tower contains many shops, restaurants, a teddy bear museum and an observatory at the top where one can see a spectacular view of Seoul. Romantic couples might want to visit the Lover’s Locks area where couples would put locks of love and throw away the key down below (so as never to part).

Family-friendly

Families on vacation would never be disappointed with the number of theme parks located in Seoul. Everland is considered the largest theme park in South Korea. The park features various rides, a zoo and a beautiful flower garden.

Another popular theme park is the Lotte World. It currently holds the Guinness World Record of being the largest indoor theme park in the world. The park has a mall inside, a hotel, movie theaters, man-made lake, an artificial island, a folk museum and plenty of amusement rides.

Shopping

Myeongdong is the most popular destination for shopaholics. Clothing, cosmetics, gadgets and restaurants are all over the place. Another shopping destination is Dongdaemun. Thousands of shops, malls and manufacturers sell the latest fashion clothing both in wholesale and retail.

Near the main US Army Base is Itaewon, an area specially designated for tourists and expats. Many restaurants, clubs and shops that cater specifically to tourists and foreigners can be found in the area.

Cultural

If you love to explore Korean culture, come and visit Insadong. The area has plenty of art galleries, souvenir shops, specialty shops and teahouses. Among the many things you can buy here include pottery, sculptures, paintings, hanbok, traditional arts and crafts, hanji and traditional teas.

For the Young Adults

Situated near the Hongik University is the area of Hongdae. Plenty of clubs and bars line the area. There are also many clothing stalls, specialty shops and vintage stores in the area. For instance, there is a Hello Kitty Café near the subway station. Hello Kitty lovers would surely adore the special cakes, pastries and coffee.
