About Cabo San Lucas

Forming a part of the municipality of Los Cabos, Cabo San Lucas is considered the cosmopolitan area while the other, San Jose del Cabo, is considered the colonial area. Cabo San Lucas is a well-known travel destination and is particularly popular because of its beaches and resorts. Visitors can expect exceptional nightlife, adventures, warm sunshine as well as excellent food when visiting Cabo San Lucas.

Sightseeing for Free

When in Cabo, expect to beaches and lot of beaches. It would be good to pack your beach gear as most of the top attractions lead you to the beach. On top of the list is the Land’s End, also known as El Arco. These rock formations can be found between Playa del Divorcio and Playa del Amor. The place is tranquil, which is ideal for couples on a romantic holiday. Playa del Amor, also known as the Lover’s Beach, is good for swimming but the lack of facilities make it unideal for an overnight.

Playa Solmar is another must-try although it is located in the Pacific side, which means rough waves should be expected. It is less crowded than Playa Medano and Playa del Amor. Chileno Beach is good for those who love snorkeling as its shallow waters make it ideal for the said activity.

Of all the beaches in Cabo, Playa Medano (Medano Beach) is the most crowded of all. Visitors frequent it because of its clean waters, abundant facilities and numerous water adventures being offered by resorts and nearby establishments. However, be prepared as food and drinks are really expensive in this area. It would be best to bring your own when going for a swim in Playa Medano.

Cabo San Lucas Festival

Cabo’s patron saint is Saint Luke, celebrated every 18th of October. During this day, all streets are closed. Food stalls and vendors line up the side of the streets. There is festive music, dancing and partying. The festival is a four-day long celebration. The coronation of the Festival Queen forms the highlight of the said event.

Cabo Family Adventures

Golf and fishing are the top most activities in Cabo San Lucas. If you were bringing the whole family to Cabo San Lucas, day activities would never be a problem. You can spend the day at the beach snorkeling, kayaking, surfing and scuba diving. In Cabo San Lucas Marina, kids and adults alike can swim, train and play with dolphins.

In Playa Medano, some hotels offer horseback riding along the beaches. The Pacific Beaches also offer horseback riding tours. Apart from the beach, visitors may also opt to engage in desert trail horseback riding. Cabo San Lucas has some mountainous terrain that will offer you a perfect view of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean.

If you go further north of Baja Peninsula, whale-watching tours are offered from December to March. Ideal places for whale watching include Laguna San Ignacio, Bahia Magdalena and Laguna Ojo de Liebre. Expect to see California gray whales and Finback whales in the area.
